86 B230F Crank Position Sensor? 200 1986

I pulled the engine out of my 86 244 to swap into the 88 765 and noticed when I pulled the flywheel off that there was no Crank Sensor. This engine has the side mount distributor and no indication of where the timing input would come from. It may not be unusual to someone in the know, but I had always thought that if it did not have a Hall effect distributor then there was a crank sensor involved. I'm just curious since it is not going to be used in this configuration in the 765.

Regards,
