slipping clutch? and exterior window rubber 120-130 1966

Hello, these questions may be fairly basic but it is late and I am tired and I'm wondering if someone might have a straightforward answer for me.

Clutch: I recently got the 122 back from a mechanic who did some good work installing new bushings and ball joints, but lousy work on some minor electrical. While he was at it he also replaced my old clutch master cylinder with a brand new one I provided for him. Before I gave him the car I don't particularly remember the gear-shifting giving me a problem, but it's been awhile since I've really had the car up and officially running and legally roadworthy. Now the gears distinctly catch a litle when I'm shifting between first and second, and second and third. Someone told me it seemed that the clutch was slipping. In that case will it need attention soon, and will it need to be removed, tranny and all? I've considered putting in an overdrive, and if all of that needs to be done, would that be the time to do it? Does it have anything at all to do with the new clutch master cylinder?

Minor trim/vent window rubber question: I'll be taking apart the doors soon to put in new vent window rubber and door locks. Do I need to have the exterior aluminum top-of-door-trim-that-runs-along-the-window off the car to do this? (they're off the front doors right now, as I recently had the car painted and was inserting new window rubber in them, but I'd like to snap the trim and its new rubber back on so I can drive in the rain, but I'll keep it off in the meantime if I ned to because they were a pain to get off).

thanks very much,

Holly
