544 wiper motor install 444-544

I attempted to install a wiper motor in my 64 544 last weekend and could not get my hands up under there to remove the old motor. I was trying to just remove the motor inself and not the entire assembly. Is it easier to remove the entire assembly including the arms and leave the motor attached? Also, the motor I got has hookups for three wires with the fourth being attached to the one next to it, in other words, three prongs for connections. My old wiper motor has four separate prongs for connections. Any suggestions on how to wire this up would be appreciated. Thannks for your expertise.
