ugh...gear stuck in neutral 120-130 1966

Got in my 122 this morning, ready to take it to get a minor hole under the trunk welded, and the car won't shift out to any other gear than the neutral it's in. Tried to put it in reverse and it grinded something awful. George Downs, if you're there, you had noted that the recent installalation of my clutch master cylinder may require a clutch adjustment, and I had not yet gotten a chance to do that, but I'm guessing this is more than that. Since the master cylinder replacement, while driving I'd noted that the gears seems to catch when I shifted from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd. Not grinding, and not very bad, just needing a slightly more forceful shift through the catching than the smooth shift I'd known regularly. Any input before I look to a mechanic?

thanks,

Holly
