Two new questions/thoughts 200

When I start my '88 GL Wagon there is a high pitched squeaking sound that lasts only for a second, right at the end of the cranking but before firing. (Sounds like a hydraulic hose bursting) Doesn't seem to be a problem now but was never there before. Also, my stock radio is fitful and only works from all 4 speakers if it wants to. When it decides to work it's like someone has reached in the window and cranked it all the way up, like right NOWWWWWWWWW! Then it goes back to low volume and intermittent output. A quick snoop under the underdash cover reveals a small amplifier, all connections look to be OK. I've had the radio out and looked inside to see if the speaker connections are loose/broken, but I honestly don't know where to look for them. Anyone know anything? THANKS!
