interior water leaks 900 1997

I recently bought a 97 960 Wagon with sun roof. When I got it home I noticed the floor carpets were wet in the front passenger side. That dried after a few days. Now the front carpet is wet again; this time on the driver's side. I hadn't driven the car, and the car was parked tilted towards the driver's side. This bit of empirical evidence leads me to believe the leak is from above, not from the road. I am going to have the drain holes by the hood hinges blown out, but my questions is, if it's not the drain holes, where should I look next? A cursory look around the windsheld didn't turn up anything suspicious. Also, could someone recommend a good manual for a lay mechanic who wants to change fluids and filters, plugs, fuses and hoses but not timing belts or clutches? Thanks.
