SOLVED: Stalling on Braking/Decelleration 900

I had a problem where my 1993 944T would stall out when braking--the RPM would just drop to zero. I checked the FAQ and saw that the Fuel Pump & Radio Suppression Relays could be at fault, but mine were brand new. The check valve on the line from the intake manifold to the brake booster was also implicated as a possible culprit, so I got a new one, but the problem remained.

Finally I went hunting for vacuum leaks with a hose to my ear and discovered a huge one at the grommet where the check valve entered the brake booster. It got smaller as the engine warmed up, but was still there, even though the grommet and the valve were brand new. So I sealed the joint between the grommet and the booster, and the grommet and the valve, with RTV, and the problem was solved.

Just thought I'd throw this out there; perhaps it might be added to the FAQ that the grommet doesn't always seal completely.

Happy driving everyone!
