Coolant loss and using oil, related? 700 1990

My 1990 745 turbo is "using" oil (I use that term because it's not clear to me where it might be leaking), about a quart every 1500 miles and the coolant level drops about a quart every three to four weeks. These are ballpark figures.

Is it possible that the two are related? The water pump is about five years old and I'm not noticing any smoke from the exhaust. I park on the street, so it's hard to judge where stuff mught be leaking from.

Turbo is strong, and temperature gauge sits right in the middle.

Any suggestions or things to look for?

Joe
