Help feedback regarding if I will damage the transmission driving with the over drive on, until repaired ASAP.

The engine RPM,s will be about 1K higher when the light is on, no harm at all. A speed of 60 sounds fine but I would not tear along at 80. The most likely cause is the relay, when they go bad they click allright but do not pass current to the solonoid on the transmission.

For your info when
Light off means OD is engaged
Light on means OD is not engaged
OD is actually just a 4 th gear.

The Od wiring does not go near the engine, the way you describe the problem I would strongly suspect the relay.
