85 740gle fuel pumps question 700 1985

Bricksters
I am having power loss problems on acceleration and rough performance in between 1200 and 2200 rpm while accerlerating though each gear. It gets better at about 2800 to 3200 rpm.

I read on the board that this might be caused by failing fuel pumps.

I recently ran out of gas(pushed the envelope a ltiitle to far) and put in about 1/2 of a gallon and she pretty much started up after the third crank.

would that eliminate the intank pump and main pump as problems?

It would seem so ....no?
