Diagnosis please....740 floods at start 700 1991

Hi all...hope someone out there can make some sense of this

This car, 149xxx mi., fresh tune-up including dist. cap, wires, plugs, rotor, still usually is hard to start (excessive cranking) and when it catches it has so much fuel in it that it barely runs for 5 sec. then clears. It is fine thereafter.

I believe it is the engine coolant temp. sensor (under intake runner #3 I think) since a faulty reading would send excess fuel into the engine thinking it was colder than it actually is.

What I would like is for someone (many perhaps) to confirm this problem as it is extremely frustrating.

If it is the sensor does it make sense to replace it or is it likely the wires at the sensor?

...really like the car and this board...Thanks!
