Another thing is that the bowl is directly underneath.
On very steep grades the back carb gets richer and the front one gets leaner.
Also the angle of mounting is less critical - they can be mounted at about
any angle of 30° downhill to level or within a few degrees of either in other
directions.
Additionally, to me the adjustment of mixture is somewhat easier (if counter-
intuitive).
It might be that in general the HIF6s have the full 1 3/4" bore while at least
some of the HS6s have a slightly smaller bore. I have been generally very
pleased with my HIF6s.
