Hello to all and happy motoring. Many thanks to all that reply to my messages. The 960 is the first Volvo I have ever owned and its been exciting learning more about her through the board. As I learn more about her, hopefully, I can start answering more questions :)

Now, off to my question. Yesterday, for the first time, I tried to egage the passing gear in my car. I first tried it in drive ( 3 not D aoutmatic overdrive) at about 52 miles an hour and could not get a 3 - 2 down shift; I stopped. Later on I was in D, overdrive, and tried once again at about 50, and she really kicked in and rocketed off :) So - does she just have a real low speed 3, 2 or 4, 2 down shift? Of Course, at 60 mph a 4,3 down shift gets her moving moderately quick. All this was done in 'E' mode.

Last Question. At Idle sometimes I notice (it does not do it all the time) I slight buzz, solinoid engaging sound, when I shift from D to L. I know it's a completely electronic tranny. Is this normal? She has 130,000 miles so she is an old girl, but she is flushed and serviced (drop pan and clean filter screen) every summer.
