od light on, 87 m47 5 speed, what's the deal? 200 1987

i'm fixing up my brother's new 87 240 sedan w/ 5 speed manual transm. typical 202k+ miles repair.

one problem i can't figure out.

Problem:
the overdrive light (arrow) on the instr cluster is on, but there's no od on this m47 transm, right? if so, what could be triggering the light?

my 2 volvos are auto, so i don't have any experience with the manual trannies.
