PS pump belt squeal 200 1986

Here in sunny warm north Florida the morning low was a brisk 32 degrees. I park my brick outside but not under the carport or in the garage. It always starts right up without complaint.....until this morning. When I pulled out of the driveway, there was this scream from under the hood. I knew right away that it was most likely the PS belt. I pulled over, popped the hood and reved it up and sure enough, it was coming from the belt. After about 2 miles it settled down and was quiet. My question is, why all of a sudden would it be doing this? It's been cold like this recently, but the belt has never made any noise before. The belt has about 50K on it but looks just fine.

Thanks in advance.
