Help! 240 Hit in Rear, Auto Tranny acting Funny 200

Hey Fellas,

My girlfriend just called to say she was hit in the rear while waiting at a light by a van. She is okay, nerves a little shook, no car body damage. Problem - tranny in Park acts like neutral. Tranny makes noise when put in drive but will move a little. I really didn't want to drill her with questions at the time, just hoping some of you guys may know what the problem might be and can she have AAA tow it to a non-volvo service?

What is really sad is she is buying the car from me and she is suppossed to pick up a '92 for me on Saturday. She is in Philly, I'm out of town.

Welcome any and all advice,
Mike
