generator light 122 goes red, not all the time 120-130 1962

I have a 1962 122 with a b20b engine, which has an alternator. On ocasion the generator light will come on. It comes on when I put on the signal light, the heater motor or the windshield wipers. It is not affected by headlights, or break lights. When the light comes on it is full red, and the signal , heater and wipers will not work. Later the problem disapears for a few days, then it happens again. I imagine this is caused by a loose wire shorting out, but I've no idea where to look for it. Any ideas??
