I bet this is a new one! or maybe not. 700

Ok, I have/had a not start problem, checked a million things, nothing, but... the car will start, run, then do a little backfire and stall if I remove the fuel rail and hold the injectors just above their respective holes, what the heck is up with that. I have never seen such a thing before, as soon as we stick the injectors back in, it dies, lack of air? timing going out of wack? By the way can or how does the timing self adjust? could this device be fried?
If anyone has even the slightest idea on this one I would love to hear it.

Thanks again for the help

Im totally confused????
