Just to review. I recently picked up a V90 clean with 80K off ebay and have spent the last weeks or so making the car feel new again. I put the car on a lift yesterday and put on a set of factory mud flaps and spent some time under the car and discovered the following:
1) The car already has Monroe shocks on the rear (no Nivomats I guess). The front struts still look to be newer (black paint without any rust) as well but there aren’t any names on them. I am guessing I already have Monroe all the way around. The car does not handle as well as I would like and the suspension makes noises when going over small bumps on the road. With the car up in the air I discovered that the passenger side sway bar end link is shot. Is ebay the best place to pick up replacements? ( specifically FCP Groton? They mention the brickboard in their add)
2) I would love to stiffen this car up a little. Is there an equivalent to energy suspension for Volvo to get polyurethane bushings from? Larger diameter sway bars etc. Does the 960 have the same funky sway bar end link geometry? Can I convert to something to get rid of that sillyness? I looked at ipd’s website and it looks like they offer nothing for our car. I emailed them just incase they are working on something for us.
3) My car had a lot of clunks coming from the rear of the car. I found jack and spare tire that were not properly secured and the remnants of a “incar” cell phone in the pass side rear hidden storage area lose as well. I don’t know if these items can work loose over time or if the last owner was just a tool for not knowing how to put them back in. I just thought I would pass this along incase anyone else on the forum has strange noises as well. You might be surprised as to how easy some of them are to fix.
4) I finally got my ebay V90 owners manual and it does look like I have the 960 style key fob. Is there only one version that looks like this? I have not been able to match up the number from my owners manual p51 (3601677B) or dealer PN (9442982) with anything on ebay. I am getting ready to just try bidding on one that looks right and see what happens… If anyone with one of these for a V90 could let me know what numbers there are on the back of the FOB I would greatly appreciate it. I am nervous beacuse the dealer told me there are two versions out there.
Thanks,
Will
