I bolted the exhaust manifold back on this morning and went for a drive. Looks like I didn't steal this one after all. I squirted a little oil in #2 and it didn't come up much more. I'm assuming headgasket. Note to self... do compression check on known sick engine BEFORE re-intalling exhaust manifold.
Other ancillary bits, the turbo gauge doesn't work, the heater fan doen't work and has a big burned spot in the fusebox on it's circuit. The ECC seemed to be doing something when I changed it's bad fuse. What does it mean if the AC light blinks blue? Odometer also broken.
Seems like I got about $350 worth of car for my $350. I'll likely pull the head and take a look-see in there, If I could get away with just decking the head and a gasket, I might give it a shot. otherwise, it might just go up on blocks on the Volvo Farm and wait for ther other 700s to need an organ donor.
Is there a way to tell if the head needs to be surfaced? Does anyone ever get away with just doing the gasket?
Thanks again all.
