So this 242 that I dragged home last year, seems destined to become something fun. The previous owner had been an enthusiast, and had improved the handling with a bunch of upgrades:
Upper and lower strut braces
KYB Gas-A-Just struts and shocks
IPD sways
Poly bushings
3-core radiator
Trans cooler
But it was still the stock B23F, with AW70 behind it. Ho hum. Got it with a blown head gasket.
Now, after trading and selling about 8 cars among 3 guys, one of my mechanic friends is going to give the car the power it deserves. The intent here is to create a street machine that goes like hell and looks, externally, like the 1986 Group A cars that were raced in European Touring Car. Dunno if he'll paint numbers on it, but the blue stripes over white will be a theme.
Intent is to install the B21FT/AW71 from a donor (513,000 miles!!!!!!) 84 244Tic. That car's already mostly parted out. Essentially everything under the hood will be transplanted.
Externally, we intend to fit a flat hood, locate a flathood 83 Turbo grille, and install E-code lights. I know all that stuff will fit fine. BUT- the European models got the larger triangular parking lights on the fenders, and that's what was used with the ETCC Group A cars. I have the fenders and late light setup from an 89. Has anyone fitted these fenders to a US spec car with the earlier (pre 86 North American) nose? What troubles did you have if any?
Thanks in advance!
