A puzzlement concerning replacement wiring 444-544

When I cranked the engine over to bring up the oil pressure, it cranked for several seconds, the pressure came up, and I stopped to check the oil level, etc. Then when I tried to crank it again, it was dead electrically. I determined that I had no voltage to the ignition switch or the batt terminals in the fuse block. I do however have voltage at the other ends of these wires where they connect to the ammeter. I built this wiring harness from scratch using mostly Belden wire and terminals from NAPA. Specifically, Solid Seal terminals that solder and heat shrink with a heat gun. Is it even remotely possible that the terminals are giving me a problem? I do still have voltage at the alternator that connects to the same ammeter terminal. Any possibilities gladly entertained.
BTW, car is '57 445, B20, 12V, '75 electronic ignition, 35 amp Bosch/ external regulator
