Lemmers Wheels 1800

Hi,

I have a 1967 1800S that I have owned for over 30 years. When I bought the car in the early 1970s it had steel wheels that were wider than stock, but have the same look (bolt pattern, vent holes, etc.) as stock wheels. On the hub of the wheel is stamped: "Lemmers #1538 10/88 Made in West Germany 5 1/2 J 15".

Do you know anything about these wheels? Were they an option from the factory? Note that I found a company ("Hayes-Lemmerz") that has a factory in Germany and manufactures wheels for BMWs and Mercedes (among others), but there is no mention of any association with Volvo.

Any ideas?

John
