fuel starvation/lights out

My 1987 264 carby model has two problems. After running a while it fails to respond to the accelerator on even slight hills. It stops, but starts again almost immediately. I have cleaned the carb, added new fuel filter, changed all the tubing, ensured there is no vacuum in the tank. Still happens. Any ideas. The other problem is that from tiem to time the alt, break fault and bulb blown lights fail to light up when I turn on the ignition. ONly handbreak and oil light up. At such times the battery runs down at night... Where should I look for the problem.

regards
Sharifb
