brake fade, better shoes, pads, fluid? 120-130

hello all,

wondering if anyone knows of better pads, shoes for the 122 for street / performance or racing that will still work on the street

last September I participated in Targa Newfoundland Touring class unequipped and found by the last day my brakes were failing to grab once up to speed

very scary in those corners with curbs!

also looking for suggestions on stiffer spring availability, not necessarily lowering as it needs to stay above the potholes, rocks and curbs

anyone have any experience with replacing the "boxes" or innner fender supports where the fenders mount ot the body along the top

have seen some fiberglass replacements occasionaly on ebay but wondered if the steel ones I have seen on a parts site would be better and easier

thanks
