Quick Tach Test Procedure 200

Hi Guys,

I have a few tachs I have pulled from junker 240's and want to test them to see which ones work and which should be pitched. I am looking for a quick way to hook them up to the engine without pulling the instrument cluster. What do I hook up from the back of the tach to where under the hood ? I assume there is a lead that will come from the coil to the terminal on the back of the tach that the red/white wire from the cluster normally goes to. There also seems like there should be 12v power, but how should I connect this ? Please be simple and specific as I am not good with electricity, and in general equate it with witchcraft. Thanks.

Mike
