I replaced the OD solenoid on my 1986 245 brick with one from FCP Groton. Cost was $100 for the part. I think Volvo wants $250 or so. IPD sells a bypass plate for $40 if you're interested in that.

I saw the tip about creating that channel for the bypass but I do some mountain driving and want to go in and out of OD as needed.

Be sure the inlet and outlet holes are clean.
