Ques about 940SE turbo smoking 900 1991

I'm looking at a 940SE turbo to buy fora beaterand when I went to check it out it smoked like a freight train at idle. Idrove it and it pushed the oil dipstick up a little during the test drive and sprayed the engine withoil. Seems that it will not smoke when the dipstoick is pulled out a little, but goes back to smoking when the dipstick is pushed back in (at idle). The owner said its due to a clogged oil seperator box, is this the flame traphe's talking about? OR, is this a sign of a turbo going south?
