HOW DO I SET THE CONTACT BREAKER GAP CORRECTLY 444-544

Hello all, Can someone tell me how to set the contact breaker gap correctly. The valves are done, spark plugs are set. NOW i want to set the gap properly.
I know the gap is 0.28in-0.32in range, but besides the mechanics of unscrewing the contact arm and setting the gap using a feeler gauge DO I NEED TO HAVE THE ROTOR POINTING A PARTICULAR WAY, OR SOME SORT OF ALIGNMENT ISSUE WITH RESPECT TO THE CAM OR SETTING MARKINGS SOMEWHERE BEFORE SETTING THE CONTACT GAP.

I want to get this right. The car sounds good so far but i want it to sound GREAT.
