Paradise by the dashboard light

Could be either one or both, I have seen brush holder regulator assemblies take a dump and never so much as make the light glow and then I have seen rat box aftermarket rebuilt alternators that make it burn bright yet somehow manage to charge. The brushes are either worn out or they are not, have them remove the brush holder and inspect the brushes before they hang an alternator and if it does need an alt make sure they use a good Bosch rebuild and not the aforementioned rat box aftermarket rebuild.
