Thanks Mark,your advice compares to the great advice in the archives. I'd change out the regulator myself if it wasn't for the degree of difficulty or lack of the right tool to get the voltage regulator out. Those two little screws seem to be welded in and a wind chill in the teens are the limiting factors.
This project is on a replacement brick and in the last few days I've noticed the difference in performance with good connections on the old one, night and day. planning on replacing cables on the new one as soon as the weather warms up
