Radio wiring -- high or low level outputs to amp?

Reposting to all forums:

Hello,
I'm wondering if the signal to the amp from the factory radio ('94 940 but seems to be standard) is high (amped) or low (pre-amp) level, and, if anyone can direct me to a wiring diagram of the amplifier INPUTS. It would seem strange to output an amped signal from the radio to the amplifier, just to amplify it again, but reading this post: http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=931753 it seems that there are no low level inputs.

My hope here is to use low level inputs which hopefully come out of the radio to hook up a cheap sub amp from another car without the cost of buying a line out converter (high to low level converter).

Thanks a lot!
