Ignition switch or starter? 700

Classic problem with the switch itself getting sticky. Sometimes it's as simple as... you havetoo much stuff hanging on your key ring. But it's common enough that it needs replacement.

It's about $40 for a switch from Volvo; several online parts places sell them as well. As far as I know it's only available OEM, so I think you won't find a cheap alternative.

Good news, you can do the job yourself. The power to it is just a plug in on the back. The switch attaches to the lock assembly with two metric screws. On older cars they are just a slotted head screw, so a regular screwdriver is all that's needed. Later cars like yours might need a Torx bit but I think it'll be slotted as well.

Good luck with it, this should solve all the problems.
