Looking to buy 200 series, opnions wanted! 200

I am new to brickboard.com but not to Volvos. I owned a 740, loved it and kept it running until it hit 385,000 (150,000 were mine on a rebuilt engine). I donated it and bought a pickup but want back to Volvo. The pickup gets 13 mpg and a wagon would do all the hauling I need.

I want to know which years I should look at and which models to narrow my search on. My family has rebuilt cars for years and we did all the work on the 740 so I am looking for a car that will last many, many, many years.

Specific questions are:
1. What was the best year/engine combo for the wagons?
2. How much maintenance does a 240 need on average per year?
3. What kind of mpg should I expect?
4. What are things I should look for in my search?
5. What is a fair price for one of these cars?

If you have a wagon in the Texas area for sale, please let me know. My family has bought all the cars we rebuild off of boards because of the reliability and honesty of the information available on cars for sale.

I really want to buy one in the next month or so (I am graduating from Texas A&M in May) so I can stop paying out my nose for gas!

I love the board and look forward to becoming an owner again so I can participate in the swapping of tips/tricks.

Thanks in advance everyone!
