radiator tank seam leak. 740-1987.Metal 3 row radiator.

Ive had this 3 row metal radiator for several years now. About 1 1/2 years ago it developed a leak at the tank seam on the passenger side of the car. I had the radiator rebuilt.
Recently the radiator developed a leak on the tank seam on the other side. Ive had the radiator repaired. However, Now Im thinking that maybe something is going on inside my engine to cause the leaks
The car has just over 200,000 miles on it. It runs great. has never overheated (to my knowledge). The temp guage, for quite a while now, has palsy. That is , it quivers and shakes for a while, below normal op temp, before finally settling in at the normal spot, and then periodically it displays a bit of the palsy before settling down to normal again.

Can someone give me an idea about how I should proceed in order to get to the bottom of this?
