Wheel bearings.. kit? reuse seal? SKF/Scantech? 700

Ok, so I'm fairly sure the front wheel bearings on my car are shot, they hum loudly, the brakes vibrate under light braking and less under harder braking. Plus my mechanic with like 15-20 years experience said he has no doubt, and I trust him pretty well.

Anyway, I've been hunting around and I know I have a separate hub and rotor and that means the hub is serviceable. So.. I seem to find the bearings for 50-85$ and I expected a combined cost of maybe 70$.. What's the deal? I've been all over my sources that have everything else cheap. Also many places list the 30$ kit for single piece hubs as being for the two piece and that caused me some problems. I was looking for a kit because I'd like a new cotter pin and a new seal won't hurt.

Does anyone know where exactly to find these items for less?
I've noticed a few negative comments about ScanTech items, but it appears nobody else makes these besides SKF/Autozone... Any info?

Thanks,
Will
