91 headlight question 200 1991

Just resealed the headlight lenses on our 91 245SE per Dave Shannon's excellent write-up on his web page. Passenger side went back on without a hitch. Have a problem with the driver's side, though.

On the driver's side, there are to white alignment knobs diagonal from one another. There is also a screw on the upper corner toward the outside of the car. All three attach from the headlight "bucket" to the back of the lens assembly with individual ball-and-socket setups, each retained by a small metal clip.

There is a small spring which goes in the socket under the screw, no? To my knowledge, so springs go in the sockets under the white alignment knobs.

The bottom white alignment knob seems fine, however, on the top one I am getting a lot of in-out play even after I tighten the headlight mounting bolts down. Did I do something wrong and if so, what?

Thanks in advance,
