Fuel Pump or ECU? 200

Fellow Brickster's:

10-14 day's ago my "check engine" light came on to tell me that the "RPM sender" cable need to be changed. So after changing it with a new one the car ran well for a few days; then it started to "cut out" as in "NO FUEL" (for 1-2 sec)then start running again (intermittedly).

Now the "PO" that had the car before me stated that "HE" had change the two(2) fuel pump's in "Florida" (2003)at the dealer and that it set him back $2600.00 with the towing and all the extra's. At this price I would think that the "PO" would have installed "OEM" pump's.

So now come's the questions:

The 1990 245dl has a "PINK" 561 ECU and I have cleaned (sanded) all the grounds starting with the "Battery" and all "Body" connections including the screws and mounting plate for the ECU (sanded the paint off). Then I checked for 12v at the pump(ext) 12v yes! I have changed the filter before the winter say in "NOVEMBER" so I know that it is "OK" as well. So am I looking at replaceing the "in-tank pump? or both? or is it the "PINK" that's the trouble .

THANX Capt'N Crunch
