Strange turbo blow-by issue... 700 1988

Hello. My 88 230ft which I bought 6 months ago with a turbo that had play, and blew some oil through the intake system is now doing some wierd stuff. I have put lots of love into this car, including a proper overboosting setup.

I noticed the other day that the small rubbery hose that connects the compressed air out side of the turbo to the 90 degree solid elbow-to-intercooler piping connection wasn't on properly. It was tightend to the compresser outlet a little too low, so I loosened it and reconnected it so that the rubbery hose was clamped around the solid round part of the housing instead of clipping the square part of the casting that the acutater hosing conneted to.

"There" I thought, that's better.I let the car idle for around five minutes and suddenly smoke started coming out of the tailpipe. I think that the improper fit previously gave the oil that was slipping by the turbo seals a place to collect and spray out before going throught the intake system. There was signs of oil around the engine compartment on that side. the silly thing is, is that the car held full boost according to the calibrated guage i put in. As well, there was plenty (!) of power, as would be expected. So air wasn't leaking out of that improper fit, just oil. ??????

Here's the meat of my question:

Why is it that when I boost around town, it doesn't appear to smoke at all, very little if any. BUT, at idle, it starts to burn blue like I had piston rings made out of plastic?? After some vigoruos engine revving and driving it clears out the blue smoke. I just did a compression test three days ago, it read 145-150 psi across all four. So the rings and valves are good. The engine only has 180,000 kms. on it, and the head has even less, all according to mechanical records.

Would the oil slip by at low pressure / vacuum more so then under 8-10 psi of boost? The flame trap system is in good working order, mobil 1 10-30 synthetic in the crankcase.

Any advice or wisdom???

Thanks very much in advance, Josh in Saskatchewan
