outside temperature gauge 900

Howdy folks--
Had my local garage run the OBD scan along with some miscellaneous things. Scan showed nothing amiss but ever since then, the outside temperature has been reading as -188F ---pretty damn cold, frankly--- and the orange "almost freezing" light has been lit. Were it really that cold, I would expect the light to come on for the brief moment before nearly every component shattered, but all other indicators (the weather channel, skimpily dressed people, blooming daffodils) show that the outside temperature is more like a balmy 65F.
Happy Spring. Any ideas about the gauge?
