Note: I was the person known as "a" who originally posted this question but i forgot my original password thus i'm now "plopwell" and also, apparently if the post is over a month old you can respond to it anymore so I would like to post it again:
This 740GLE non-turbo sort of "flickers" while driving; The engine will cut-out for a split second intermintently. When this happens the headlights will flicker in unison with the cutting out, the wipers will stop moving for a split second, the radio will cut out, also in unison with the engine and other electrical accesories, for a split second, and the temp gauge goes crazy.
While this is happening, there is a "fluttering/clicking" sound coming from the relay panel. This, again, happens in unison with the above cutting out.
Otherwise the engine runs fine and the car does not actually stall out. If this were the only extent of the problem, i could live with it but i'm afraid that i am putting harmful strain on the electrical system by continuing to drive it this way.
Car has estimated 240,000 miles on clock. And distributor was recently replaced.
What do you think is wrong?
That was the original question and since then the ignition switch was replaced with an original volvo switch which i might add i got new at autoparts warehouse, one of the advertisers here, for $80 wheareas the dealers around me wanted like $100 for it. Anyways, the problem is still there. Again, the car actually runs fine and does not actually stall out. It cuts out but does not actually stall out. I am just afraid that i am putting strain on the electrical system by driving it this way. If there is no strain on the electrical system by driving it this way then i would/could just live with it.
What next?
