95 960 engine swap 900 1995

Just purchased a 1995 960 with a B6304 engine 150,000 miles. The block is leaking coolant midway down the driver side, behind the intake manifold. The previous owner tried to repair by welding then JB welding. Still leaks. I suspect block porisity is the culprit. The way I see it I can try one last time to do a good Heliarc weld or JB weld repair or bite the bullet and change the engine. I have found a yard with an engine out of a 1998 90 series S90 with 40,000 miles for a reasonable price. Will this engine be a direct replacement or will it need modifications or not fit at all? Any tips on how to sucessfully patch these blocks are appreciated. It seems to me some type of annode might help prevent this problem. Lastly, if I pull the engine should I pull both engine and tranny together? Is it easiest to remove from top or bottom of the car? Thanks
