power stearing 200 1986

I am going to attempt to flush my power stearing system...I am having a moderate loss of assisst and the fluid is slightly darker than I think it should be...I was simply going to disconnect one of my hoses and turn the engine over (maybe run it breifly) untill all the fluid is purged into a container...I was then going to fill and repeat cycling the stearing from pole to pole. I have two questions...#1 how much should I expect to come out of a full system? and #2 which hose should i disconnect for max efficientcy? I was thinking it would be most easy to detach one of the hoses at the resevoir.
