More Charging Problems 200 1989

Hey everyone, as you might recall, I have been having charging issues with my 89 240 as of late, with some melted wires I posted about here: http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1062976

I got it rewired the other day, would start but only had about 11.5 volts when it was running.

So I went to autozone and got a new alternator today, and hooked everything back up. Started it on the charger, but sure enough, after being taken off the charger, 3-4 minutes later it died. It will run while the charger is hooked up but no dice after that.

I will say that the voltage at the battery was around 12.5 volts, along with around the same at the hot wire on the alternator. It's better than the 11.5 I got before I put the other alternator on.

So I'm stumped. I checked the fuses for a drain, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary, mostly around 0.11 volts for each. The battery is less than a month old, I think I might get it checked tomorrow for the hell of it. Belts are fine. Is it time to look at the cables running to/from the battery?

The car's dash is in pieces along with the center console, and it not running gives me no motivation whatsoever to work on anything else on the car. Its frustrating as hell.

Thoughts anyone?
