Rear wheel stud installation 200

Hello, I would appreciate if someone can give me an idea how to install wheel studs on my 88 240. Removing the wheel stud was easy, my problem is installing the new one.I used washers when I installed the new studs, using an impact but the head of the stud would not bottom against the back of the hub.Would a little amount of grease help? By the way, I ordered the new wheel stud from FCPGroton so I'm sure I got the right size.Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
