1990 240 compressor needs replacing. Still confused on what to do. Help.

ok,
Now is the time to get this ac compressor changed.
Looking for ideas on how to end this process with a good ac system
what is the best way to proceed.
Ive read a lot of stuff, and Im still confused about this.
I want to make the money and work count. I dont want to end up wishing i had done this or that.

At this point Im not afraid of doing work. And Im quite capable. I'll let someone else do the vac and charge. I'll do all e lse. I dont want to spend a whole bunch of money, but Im prepared to spend what is necessary. I just want a good working system when Im finishes.

Im open to, and looking foward to hearing from as many of you as possible.

Thnaks

Lawrence
