Oil Leaks 900 1996

Advice needed on 960 oil leaks that I've been unable to have fixed (not been to dealer). Started with my neglecting flametrap maintenance:

Water in pan - fixed Feb 2005.
Head gasket replaced - June 2005.
Intake manifold gasket (oil separator on bill?) - Nov 2005.

Persisent leak in front of engine, appearing to come from under plastic timing belt cover, which I removed - oil is inside this area. Persistent leak in rear of engine, but I cannot ID source - drain plug has new washer. Mechanic, who I trust, has said seals not an issue, but I wonder.

Also, some valves and/or lifters have recently become very noisy.

Thanks for any advice - car is messy.
