Steering Rack replacement problems 700

From the info I have gathered in a search for a replacement rack for my CAM rack equipped 89 740 I have learned that a ZF is a common replacement for a CAM, as there seem to be more ZF's around. I was told one rebuilder that they had plenty of ZF's for exchange, but if I wanted a rebuilt CAM I would have to either supply them with a core or send mine in and wait for it to be rebuilt. To answer 1., there may or may not be some adaptor fittings for the power steering hose connections required. 2., the boot set-up sounds strange as a ZF should have the large bushings you mention. The tie rod ends are the same for both racks.
