Is the IPD O/D mini-rebuild kit worth it and other assorted O/D questions 200

Okay, here's the deal. I'm still in the process of doing my '82 diesel to gas conversion and I'm down to the O/D unit(M46). I have a set of the upgraded pistons that accomodate the XL O-rings that I plan on using but my questions are these: What can I do to ensure that this unit will work when I install it? When I removed it from the car, I'd towed the car home so I don't know anything about it as far as functionality goes. I see that IPD sells a "mini-rebuild kit" for these. Does anyone have any experience with it and is it worth the $ and effort? Is there any way I can tell if this thing will work prior to installing it in the car? Thanks in advance for all of your help.
