A/C compressor just failed... 700

My compressor just died on the way home in my 1987 760 Turbo.

I've been reading the FAQ, and it doesn't really say much about an entire compressor replacement--mainly it's R12 to R134a conversions.

FCP Groton has two different compressors, one for R12 and one for R134. Does it matter which I buy if I want R134? (That may seem like a stupid question, but if you can convert them...)

Are there any other compressors you guys would recommend (preferably something I can get for cheaper than the $265+shipping)? I've a friend at Autozone who can get me a discount on the compressor they sell there--it'll be about $200 after he helps me out.

Should I buy the R12->R134 kit as well as the compressor, since it comes with the new condenser, etc?

Thanks very much for any and all tips. Summer is upon us in Atlanta! A/C is important! :)
